This special gift bottle was styled after an original circa 1870's bottle discovered in the Kentucky Bourbon Museum. We think it is pretty special. Especially when you consider what it holds. You See, Maker's Mark is the world's only handmade bourbon. It's made in small quantities of less than 19 barrels at a time. Which means we can be awfully choosy about everything we use and everthing we do to hand-craft our bourbon. It takes a lot of patience, a lot of good judgment, and, of course the human touch. So, please enjoy. Because, just like the hand-dipped wax seal that trickles down the neck of each bottle, no two VIP Maker's Mark gift bottles are alike.


Maker's Mark® Bourbon

As distinct as the taste of Maker’s Mark® Bourbon is its bottle and name. Designed by Margie Samuels – the wife of Maker’s Mark creator Bill Samuels, Sr. – the square-shape container was inspired by her collection of cognac bottles. In keeping with the look of the French spirit, Mrs. Samuels decided to hand dip the very first bottles in red wax in her kitchen home fryer – a process that has now expanded and has blessed millions of the famous bourbon bottles. Taking it one step further, Mrs. Samuels, a collector of English pewter, recognized that any worthy craftsman uniquely branded each of his creations with what became a personal “Maker’s Mark.” She deemed it a perfect title for her husband’s handmade bourbon.

The iconic bottle and wax defines the care that goes into making each bottle of this hand-crafted bourbon. Today, Maker’s Mark continues to handcraft its bourbon in exactly the same way as Bill Samuels, Sr. – in small batches with a personal touch a part of every drop of whisky.
