Glenglassaugh 21 years with 700 ml. and 46 % volume in a very nice decanter.
Glenglassaugh 21 years old is an exceptionally fine example of this rare Single Highland Malt Whisky. Located on the Banffshire coast near the fishing village of Portsoy, Glenglassaugh was considered by whisky writer Alfred Bernard too well known to need any praise.
A maritime note is evident, its bold and distinctive flavour hinting at the distillery location and natures elemental influence. Savour Glenglassaughs great age and supreme balance with trusted friends. Hand bottled.
Tasting Notes Nose: Corned beef, oddly followed by vanilla, nutmeg. Once used to the nose there were numerous shortbread, shortcake references with strawberries and raspberries, basically strawberry shortcake. Water creates a more sulphery, rubbery nose with salted peanuts, stewed apple, leather and an aged feel. Palate: Raspberry syrup, roasted almonds, macaroon bars, cookie dough, yeast. If you could get cornflake, raisin, raspberry coated scones – that would be a perfect note. Water develops it wonderfully into more toasted nuts and autumnal notes. Finish: Icing sugar, raspberries again with slightly more citrus/tangerine finishing it up. Medium length Comments: Everyone enjoyed this, with people suggesting it would be worth the money. Alot softer than you might have immediately thought, but the shortcake nose and palate leads to quite alot of complexity and depth. Great level of berriness!
