Caol Ila 12 years Unpeated Malt with 700 ml. and 57.6 % volume. Released in 2010.
A medium weight whisky, but still packing plenty of potent phenols, this is a refined, powerful dram with a compensating oiliness. A balanced, peaty beauty of the Caol Ila company.
Dave Broom, Whisky Magazine:
Oily yet fruity. Linseed oil, green olive, smoked fish. Lightly medicinal, wet grass, linseed oil, smoky wood (balsa wood?). With water good biscuity malt and smoky bacon notes.
Palate: Rounded, mid-weight. Good smoky intensity mid-palate. Clean juicy fruits, oil and dry smoke.
Finish: Long smoky, fishy
Comment: Great balance and the best of the three .
